Our University

Our university was founded in 2008 by the Mehmet Altınbaş Education and Culture Foundation under the name “Istanbul Kemerburgaz University” and continued its journey as “Altınbaş University” in the 2017-2018 academic year. Established in accordance with the late businessman Mehmet Altınbaş’s wish to invest in education, Altınbaş University has always been the most valuable social responsibility project for the Altınbaş family. With the name change, the University gained the strength of Altınbaş Holding behind it and, with this driving force, began moving toward its new goals faster and with greater confidence.
Altınbaş University welcomed its first students in the 2011-2012 academic year and has grown rapidly in a short time through its achievements on the path to becoming an international research university. In the 2017-2018 academic year, Altınbaş University continued education with 9 faculties, 3 institutes and 2 vocational schools, offering a total of 30 undergraduate, 34 associate degree, 28 master’s and 6 doctoral programs. At Altınbaş University, departments are determined with the vision of being an entrepreneurial and innovative university whose graduates make a difference professionally and contribute value to universal science, while carefully analyzing the needs of Turkey and the world.
Our university, which follows the educational agenda and technology and continuously updates itself, continues to serve with the mission of being a solution-oriented university that supports innovation, provides a free research environment and opportunities, and makes original contributions with a sense of social responsibility.
Altınbaş University Faculty of Dentistry, together with its Dental Hospital, began its education and training activities in the 2016-2017 academic year. The language of instruction is 30% English and 70% Turkish. Following a program in parallel with international education systems, Altınbaş University Faculty of Dentistry aims to educate the bright dentists of the new century through its dynamic, innovative and research-oriented academic staff: dentists who are self-confident, able to view life from a broad perspective, compatible with the age of knowledge and technology, professionally and ethically developed, questioning, analytical, scientific, and emotionally intelligent. Serving in a multicultural environment with international students, our faculty rapidly integrates current scientific and technological developments into education and training.
Faculty members of the Faculty of Dentistry believe that quality higher education is the right of every young person and work to provide our students with all the opportunities required for quality education. Our faculty is a member of the Association for Dental Education in Europe and closely follows innovations in dental education. The courses in the curriculum have been prepared by taking into account the competencies expected of graduating dentists by the Association for Dental Education in Europe.
Bakırköy Health Campus, where the Faculties of Dentistry, Medicine, Pharmacy and the Vocational School of Health Services are located together, has an area of 40,000 m², and the theoretical and practical education of our faculty is carried out on this campus. Our faculty, which also provides master’s and doctoral education, adopts a student-centered educational approach based on evidence-based dentistry principles, with practical and problem-solving-oriented training in small groups. All these processes are carried out with a qualified and state-of-the-art infrastructure. Education and training are delivered by 10 professors, 2 associate professors and 15 assistant professors, with one faculty member for every two students. Pre-clinical student training is carried out in state-of-the-art phantom and preclinical laboratories. Throughout their education, students are provided with one dental unit and one phantom.
In clinical education, indirect working methods are taught through the use of microscopes and loupes. Theoretical courses are held in 4 amphitheaters with a capacity of 120 students and 9 classrooms with a capacity of 65 students. Library facilities are available both at Altınbaş University Mahmutbey Campus and at the Faculty of Dentistry in Bakırköy Campus, enabling detailed and comprehensive research and providing access to information centers around the world with a single password. Following a program in parallel with international education systems, Istanbul Altınbaş University Faculty of Dentistry aims to become one of Turkey’s leading faculties of dentistry in education, research and patient care services with its national and international students from diverse backgrounds and ethnic cultures.
